Biographie
Debora Bolsoni is master in Visual Poetics at the School of Communications and Arts – USP (2014). She teaches at art post-graduation courses of FAAP in São Paulo since 2018 and at the moment she is in residency at Cité Internationale des Arts preparing a solo show for the gallery Bendana-Piñel (Paris).

Démarche
There is a whole repertoire of material and symbolic culture that lies between the mass, the popular and folk, and which appears in my work with a particular approach about public and private. I am very interested in popular culture as a source of invisible axioms, even truths, in the sense of historical and identity constructs that shape us inadvertently.

Most of the time I think about it as an interrupted scene where objects, materials, concepts and words behave like moving bodies which were surprised before arriving at their proper places, or before they reached the place they were headed to. While this is happening, I can peek in deliberate amusement, relinquishing control and surprising them by making an abrupt and unexpected cut, as if I was collecting a time-sample for study and analysis.

Drawing, writing, installations, site specific, sculptures and objects is my palpable practice.

Projet de résidence
The project “Diables de manutention” is mostly from probing exhibitions strategies I will find in my everyday life in Bourges. I should mix it with my memories of similar items we have in Brazil focusing the possible intersections between Christian rites and its parallels with consumer society.

Workshop
In response to repressive conditions the artists find a way to express their messages in a clever, yet subtle manner. Nowadays in all over the world, there are new versions of political dictatorship that reminds us those ones which ruled the world during the time known as “the years of lead” (from 60s trought 80s). In this sense, its seems even more necessary to have a look at the historical conceptual art.

At this workshop we are going to have a balance between practical exercises to launch new eyes into participant’s visual researches, and also have contact with the production of various Brazilian conceptual artists mostly unknown in French context.
